The Inventory Supervisor has primary responsibility for product receiving, inventory management, and warehouse cleanliness and safety. The ideal candidate will have some background in warehouse or distribution center operations or inventory control.
Responsibilities
1. Product Receiving
The Inventory Supervisor oversees and performs the receiving of inventory including inspection, counting, applying labels, stocking of shelves, and updating data in our warehouse management and inventory system.
Sample tasks:
- Check quantities sent by suppliers against our purchase orders.
- Work with purchasing staff to address receiving problems, products damaged in transit, or defective merchandise.
- Maintain label files online. Print and apply as needed.
2. Inventory / Warehouse Management
The Inventory Supervisor has primary responsibility for the inventory in the warehouse including accurate inventory counts, efficient organization, and keeping the products and warehouse areas clean and safe.
Sample tasks:
- Stock, shelve and organize products.
- Use website reports and data to check and update inventory counts.
- Conduct cycle counts on regular schedule and year-end count.
- Receive returns and assess what to do with the returned product. Coordinate with staff providing refunds to customers.
- Purchase supplies such as SKU stickers.
- Maintain clean shelves and work areas in the warehouse
- Develop and implement inventory control procedures to maintain accurate inventory levels.
- Monitor inventory movements, conduct regular audits, and reconcile discrepancies.
- Collaborate with purchasing and logistics teams to optimize inventory levels and ensure timely deliveries.
- Conduct root cause analysis on inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
3. Product Repair
The Inventory Supervisor inspects and repairs minor damage to products.
Sample tasks:
- Using simple tools and materials, repair minor cosmetic blemishes on products that are otherwise saleable.
- Manage damaged and defective merchandise including reporting and disposal.
Job Skills Required
- Strong computer skills including Excel, Email, Word, and business-specific software (we use Finale Inventory).
- Comfortable communicating in person, over email, text, and video (our purchasing supervisor is in Florida).
- Outstanding work ethic, honest, loyal and dependable. Self-motivated with the ability to work alone and unsupervised and to manage time effectively.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Pleasant personality, good sense of humor, easy to get along with. No drama.
- Enjoys arts and crafts projects.
- Reliable transportation necessary.
Job Specifications
Experience Required: 1-2 years in Warehouse and/or Inventory Management preferred
Education Required: High School Diploma. Some college preferred.
