Key Responsibilities or Summary of responsibilities.
The Advanced Residential Landscape Architect/Designer is the client’s primary point of contact and driving force behind the design of simultaneous residential landscape design to build projects. The job requires proactive and ongoing planning and communication with the SEI team and clients to maximize efficiency and profitability of each project.
- Collaborate closely with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and project objectives. Find the unseen opportunities and create an inspiring vision for their space.
- Lead design and produce exceptional drawings from concept through CD’s.
- Mentor and develop other designers within the team.

Essential Functions
The following is a list of general job responsibilities for the Advanced Residential Landscape Architect/Designer position. This list is not all-inclusive and may be broadened or changed to meet changing business needs.
- Create and nurture relationships, both internal and external
- Provide excellent service through proactive communication, responsiveness, follow-through, and respect for other’s time
- Work with Principle to develop and on-board new clients
- Excellent creative skills and ability to translate client requirements into design
- Outstanding design graphic skills (hand drawing as well as computer graphics); must be able to create a comprehensive set of construction drawings including accurate and intricate construction details.
- Ability to manage simultaneous design projects within their design hour budgets from initial client contact through all phases of the project
- Ability to self-direct/self-manage and capable of working with design teams, consultants, and project managers through all design stages from concept through construction
- Take the lead in creating and producing landscape concept plans
- Check-in with Principle throughout the design process and prior to beginning construction drawings
- Track design deadline and hours to assure work hours are within the contracted budget. Forecast and communicate to Principle and client any anticipated hour overage
- Update and incorporate plans submitted by architects, engineers
- When necessary, review plans with city officials for code compliance
- Procure permits as needed
- Onboard project manager and crew once design is completed and prior to construction
- Assist with project execution in conjunction with PM and constructions teams
- Identify and solve variances between plan and field conditions
Initiative, ability to self-manage, collaboration, humility, humor, and having a killer design sense are essential for this job. Below are the baseline requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, minimum 10 years landscape architecture/design experience with minimum 4 years experience in residential landscape design.
- Strong portfolio of completed projects.
- Excellent creative skills and ability to translate customer requirements into design
- Outstanding design graphic skills (hand drawing as well as computer graphics); must be able to create a comprehensive set of construction drawings including accurate and intricate construction details.
- Must be highly proficient in AutoCAD. Proficient in Abode Creative Suite Products, MS Office, Google Business, and cloud-based storage products. Sketch-up experience a bonus.
- Ability to manage simultaneous design to build projects within their design budgets from initial client contact through all phases of the project
- Ability to self-direct/self-manage and capable of working with design teams, consultants, and project managers through all design stages from concept through construction
- Knowledge of and/or experience with detailed concrete, masonry, stone and wood construction methodologies and implementation; drainage design; soil types; and Puget Sound plants and horticultural best practices
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Valid WA State driver’s license and clean driving record
Compensation:
- $90,000 -$110,00 Annual Salary
- Paid time off – 80 hours for 1st year, then 120 hours every year after.
