Senior Accountant – Non-Profit

Job Description: National Dance Institute is seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our finance team in a hybrid capacity in our Harlem offices.
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, the senior accountant will integrate into our small, highly productive team. The role’s primary responsibilities are for all accounts payable and accounts receivable functions including the accurate tracking of pledges receivable and identifying the release of restricted funds. The role will also support our annual audit process and be required to perform ad-hoc financial analyses. The role will also occasionally provide support for events and performances throughout the year. The role is expected to be in the office 3 days per week and may have required weekend or evening work when providing support for events and performances.

Responsibilities:
Manage the Accounts Payable process ensuring accuracy and data integrity, fully document bills and manage approvals.
Maintain accurate vendor information including collection of W-9, ACH banking information, addresses and contact information.
In coordination with the development department, manage the Accounts Receivable process ensuring accuracy and data integrity, fully document contributions, pledges and earned receivables.
In coordination with the program department, prepare and issue invoices to school partners for our In-school Programs.
Maintain accurate data regarding multi year pledges and grants. Identify appropriate releases from restrictions and prepare journal entries for release posting.
Monitor bank and credit card feeds and match to transactions. Post activity from donation platform, PayPal and Intuit Payments.
Using NYC payment portals, match incoming Department of Education payments to outstanding receivables from school partners.
Manage credit card coding process with credit card holders.
Assist in collection of support documentation for annual audit
Review processes with an eye on eliminating bottlenecks and improving efficiency.
As required, prepare analyses of A/R, A/P and other balance sheet accounts.
Support NDI events and performances as required.
Other duties as assigned.
Desired Skills and Experience, Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or equivalent work experience.
A minimum of 3-years’ experience in non-profit accounting
Strong understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.
Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Bill.Com, Microsoft Excel
Effective oral and written communication, and administrative skills
Highly organized with the ability to multi-task and prioritize daily work, multiple requests or assignments, and deadlines.
Excellent ability to work well in a team environment, and maintain good working relationships with staff, vendors, auditors, donors, and partners.
Strong problem solving/analytical skills.
Compensation:
Salary range $75,000 to $80,000 depending upon skills and experience.
