CAD Drafting and Automation Specialist

About Axis: Founded in 2009, Axis is a state-of-the-art railcar axle manufacturing facility. We produce railcar axles for the global market through a highly automated process of forging, heat treating, and machining.
Position Overview: Axis is seeking a full-time CAD Drafting and Automation Specialist to join our dynamic engineering team. This role offers a unique opportunity to be a key contributor in a fast-paced, technology-rich manufacturing environment, with significant potential for professional growth and career advancement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers, programmers, and management to develop engineering drawings and maintain CNC forge programs.
- Ensure accurate and prompt creation of engineering drawings from customer prints.
- Program CNC forge machines and monitor processes (training provided).
- Evaluate new product capabilities and feasibility.
- Develop standardized practices for engineering drawing formats and document control.
- Communicate effectively with Axis staff, maintaining good rapport.
- Independently scope, plan, coordinate, and schedule projects and routine maintenance.
- Create, modify, and develop preventive maintenance (PM) protocols.
- Work with shop floor employees to identify areas for improvement.
- Conduct and coordinate straightforward engineering analyses and tests, preparing related reports and summaries for review.

Technologies and Qualifications:
- Proficiency in CAD/3D modeling, preferably with Inventor 2021.
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
- Strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
- Personal responsibility for completing quality work within budgets and timelines.
Preferred but Not Required:
- Experience in CNC programming.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (queries, pivot tables, macros, deep data analysis).
- Good interpersonal skills for productive collaboration with customers, vendors, and technical personnel.
- Project management skills, including thorough knowledge of project scheduling, cost tracking, and forecasting.
- Ability to work independently in a results-oriented, challenging environment.

Pay: $56,000.00 - $61,000.00 per year
