Position located in Columbus, Texas
Compensation: $60,000 - $80,000 DOE
Schedule: Wednesday – Saturday, 10 hour shifts

Position Summary: This position is responsible for the work involved in the maintenance, and repair of heavy-duty vehicles and mobile equipment, specifically water drilling rigs, service trucks and mud slayers, which have utility systems or special hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems, and features. The work requires knowledge of how heavy-duty machinery, engines, parts, and systems work; ability to detect faulty items, determine causes of malfunction, and determine best repair methods; and skill to assemble, disassemble, repair, or modify components and systems.

Duties:
- Perform inspections, troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair and maintenance for medium and heavy duty trucks, trailers and equipment including all major vehicle systems: engine, drivetrain, brakes, suspension, steering, electrical, and computer diagnostics, engine teardown
- Read job orders, observe, and listen to truck/equipment in operation to determine malfunction, and plan work procedures
- Disassemble machinery, heavy equipment, and diesel/gasoline engines to remove parts and make applicable repairs
- Diagnose, analyze, repair, adjust and align any/all components of machinery, heavy equipment, and engines to determine correct direction of repair and root cause of failure
- Order and/or requisition parts and materials as needed
- Maintain vehicle records by annotating all received services and repairs
- Complete test runs on repaired machinery, heavy equipment, and engines to verify adequacy of repairs
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks and inspections on company vehicles and equipment
- Understand and perform various daily and weekly assignments from verbal or written communication
- Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly
- Adhere to all company safety standards/policies and applicable OSHA regulations
- Travel to work at different job sites as needed
- Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of engines, heavy equipment, including heavy duty vehicles, construction-grade heavy equipment, automotive systems, hydraulic, and specialized equipment
· Minimum 3 years' experience as an ADVANCED level mechanic / technician
· ASE Certification(s) in Medium / Heavy Duty Category preferred
- Ability to troubleshoot, problem-solve, detect, and resolve mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues across a wide variety of advanced, complex systems including integrated electric, air, and hydraulic systems
- Ability to be responsible for the success of major repairs, and work within tight deadlines and time constraints
- Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Able to write routine reports and correspondence
- Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form
- Proficiency with all tools needed to perform the duties above
- Valid state issued driver’s license and a clean MVR
- Travel required; must be willing to travel and able to work at different job sites as needed
- Extremely advanced mechanical aptitude
- Hydraulic troubleshooting experience is a big plus
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Strong organizational skills

- Willingness to follow any safety procedures and use safety equipment every time
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic math skills
- Able to pass a background check

Physical Demands:
This job requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching; work on top of, under, and in tight compartments of vehicles in cramped or awkward positions; strenuous work while standing, lying, or sitting. The employee must frequently lift and carry items, unassisted, weighing up to 40 pounds; lift and move heavier items with the assistance of other workers or with lifting devices such as jacks, hoists, and cranes. The employee must often push, pull, and position parts, assemblies, and equipment. The employee is sometimes required to work from ladders or work platforms at varying heights.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed outside weather conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and vibration. We require adherence to prescribed safety practices and use of safety equipment such as protective hearing devices, hard hats, hard-toe shoes, gloves, respirators, extreme weather safety, and protective clothing. The noise level in the work environment is often loud.
