Summary: The Hyper-V System Administrator is responsible for the administration, management, and support of the organization's Hyper-V virtualized infrastructure. This role involves ensuring the availability, performance, and security of Hyper-V environments, managing virtual machines (VMs), and providing support to end-users and other IT teams. The Hyper-V System Administrator works closely with IT teams and stakeholders to deliver a robust, secure, and efficient virtualized environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintaining existing Hyper-V systems (servers / virtual hosts / virtual machines) including configuring the system, setting up the servers, installing hardware and other equipment, backup and disaster recovery, assisting in resolving security issues.
- Providing Tier 3 level technical and non-technical support as needed, including client/vendor relations and technical problem solving.
- Monitor, alert, and report on the health and performance of all the physical and virtual servers.
- Implement and enforce security policies and best practices for virtualized environments.
- Conduct regular security audits and assessments to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Manage and monitor access controls, permissions, and roles within the Hyper-V environment.
- Assist in the preparation of technical documentation and configuration change requests.
- Respond and document worklogs in Incident and Work Order request through Remedy ticketing system.
Skills:
- Proficiency in managing and administering Hyper-V environments, including hosts, clusters, and virtual machines.
- Strong understanding of storage and networking concepts related to virtualization.
- Practical experience in Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and file and print servers, and Windows Server Administration (2012/2012R2/2016/2019/2022)
- Detail-oriented and able to organize information
- Strong customer service and oral/written communication skills required.
- Ability to work independently and produce results, given general priorities, required
- Versatile and flexible and capable of assisting other Tier 3 teams within the overall, larger Enterprise support team
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Three or more years of experience with server and Hyper-V virtualization systems
- Experience working with server hardware for installation and upgrades; installation/upgrading procedures; file and system maintenance procedures
- Experience and Knowledge of server hardware, RAID arrays; Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019 Operating Systems, roles and features, management with GUI and PowerShell
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or similar.
- CompTIA Security+ certification.
- ITILv4 Foundations certification preferred.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
