An NC Pre-K Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating educational environment for children aged 4-5 years. The teacher will design and implement a curriculum that promotes the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of each child in preparation for kindergarten.
Key Responsibilities
1. **Curriculum Planning and Implementation**
- Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the developmental needs of children.
- Integrate NC Pre-K curriculum standards into daily activities.
- Use a variety of instructional techniques and materials to address individual learning styles and abilities.
2. **Classroom Management**
- Create a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Establish and maintain classroom rules and routines that promote a positive learning environment.
- Manage classroom behavior in accordance with school policies and procedures.
3. **Child Assessment and Progress Monitoring**
- Conduct ongoing assessments of children's development using approved assessment tools.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of each child’s progress.
- Use assessment data to tailor instruction and interventions to meet the needs of individual students.
4. **Family Engagement**
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about their child’s progress.
- Involve families in classroom activities and encourage their participation in their child's education.
- Conduct parent-teacher conferences to discuss children’s development and progress.
5. **Professional Development**
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Stay current with best practices in early childhood education.
- Collaborate with colleagues and participate in team meetings and school events.
6. **Compliance and Reporting**
- Ensure compliance with NC Pre-K program requirements and regulations.
- Complete and submit required reports and documentation in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- **Education**: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
- **Certification**: NC Birth-Kindergarten (B-K) Licensure.
- **Experience**: Previous experience teaching in an early childhood setting preferred.
- **Skills**: Strong understanding of child development, effective classroom management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with families and colleagues.
Working Conditions
