Position Overview:
The Breakfast Attendant is responsible for providing exceptional guest service during breakfast hours, ensuring guests have a pleasant dining experience. Staybridge Suites has a self-serve setup. The Breakfast Attendant will maintain the breakfast area, interact with guests, assist with light cooking duties, and possess a valid SERV Safe certification.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Breakfast Attendant reports to the food and beverage manager and performs the following tasks and functions:
- Greet guests warmly and courteously, creating a welcoming atmosphere in the breakfast area.
- Provide information about available food and beverages and assist guests with any special requests or dietary restrictions.
- Set up the breakfast area in an inviting and attractive manner, ensuring all food and beverage stations are fully stocked and aesthetically pleasing, following IHG brand standards.
- Regularly clean and sanitize all breakfast area surfaces, including tables, counters, chairs, and equipment, to meet health and safety standards.
- Prepare and serve simple breakfast items such as toast, waffles, eggs, and fresh fruits.
- Ensure that the food is prepared and presented according to IHG's standards and guidelines.
- Monitor food and beverage inventory levels during breakfast hours, restocking items as necessary to avoid shortages.
- Ensure that the quality of food and beverages meets IHG's standards, and promptly address any issues or complaints from guests.
- Adhere to proper food handling and safety procedures at all times, following local health codes and IHG's guidelines. Possess and maintain a valid SERV Safe certification.
- Provide assistance to guests, such as carrying plates, providing extra utensils, and addressing any other requests during breakfast service.
- Collaborate with the hotel's kitchen staff and other team members to ensure a smooth and efficient breakfast service.
Qualifications:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and move around the breakfast area efficiently.
- Lift and carry trays, plates, and other items weighing up to 25 pounds, to assist guests when necessary.
- Bend, kneel, and reach to clean and restock the breakfast area and equipment.
- Possess manual dexterity to handle kitchen utensils and operate small kitchen appliances.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance, adhering to the hotel's dress code and grooming standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in the hospitality industry or a customer service role is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of food handling and safety guidelines is desirable.
- Valid SERV Safe certification is required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with guests effectively.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Flexibility to work early morning shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.

Physical Requirements:
The usual and customary methods of performing the functions of the Breakfast Attendant position require specific physical demands. Breakfast attendants should also be capable of occasional lifting and carrying, managing trays, beverage dispensers, and other items integral to the breakfast service. Bending and stooping are often necessary for tasks such as reaching lower shelves, cleaning surfaces, and retrieving items from the floor. Furthermore, manual dexterity is crucial for handling small items like condiment packets and cutlery with precision. Standing for extended periods is a common aspect of the role, as breakfast attendants are responsible for setting up, replenishing, and maintaining the breakfast area.
