Position: [Part Time] Computer Instructor
Status: Non-Exempt, Part-time (Contract)
Reports to: Economic Empowerment Program Manager
Salary: Up to $30.00 per hour
The Korean-American Family Service Center, Inc. (KAFSC) is a leading non-profit organization assisting women, children, and families in the New York tri-state area to recognize and eliminate relationship violence and abuse. Our counseling, education, advocacy and support services help individuals empower themselves to build safe and healthy relationships based on mutual respect and dignity. Each year, over 3,000 individuals benefit from one or more services that we provide. All our services are culturally sensitive, linguistically appropriate, and free.
ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will plan, prepare, and deliver structured and interactive lessons and ensure a high level of student satisfaction.
Your key tasks will consist of, but not be limited to:
Responsibilities
- Developing instructional manuals to help students know proper handling of computers
- Managing required teaching materials and sources
- Assisting projects and tasks to students
- Providing appropriate learning and reference materials to students
- Encouraging healthy classroom behavior and maintaining an orderly environment
- Discussing students' progress with program manager and students themselves
- Evaluating, grading projects/examinations and tracking student progress
- Ensuring all computer equipment is working properly
- Guiding and boosting student's confidence and help them to build self-esteem
- Helping students and staff members troubleshoot any technical issues if needed
- Identifying varying teaching methods to help student learn better
- Maintaining proper functions of all hardware devices
- Maintaining students' attendance and performance records
- Reviewing and downloading any important software updates
- Keep up with industry trends in computer technology
- Ensuring laboratory cleanliness
Skills
- Knowledge of basic computer fundamentals and software like word processing, spreadsheets, database management systems, QuickBooks, Scheduling software, patient charting software, etc.
- Ability to evaluate, design, and implement curriculum, testing, and/or teaching methodologies
- Ability to manage a classroom environment and keep the audience engaged, and proactively address students' needs
- Demonstrate excellent critical thinking skills, and customer service skills.
- Excellent presentation and speaking skills.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field required. Master's degree is preferred but not required
- Fluent in English and Korean preferred but not required.
- Certificate in Computer Technology Teacher Training course preferred
- Previous work experience as a Computer Teacher in the Education Industry preferred
- High level of professionalism
- Updating curriculum as required
