USC's Los Angeles Fetal Surgery Program is seeking an enthusiastic and caring Licensed Vocational Nurse to join its Fetal Surgery team.
Prospective individual must have the motivation to provide exceptional patient care to expectant mothers who are dealing with a high-risk pregnancies. Job entails various tasks such as, but not limited to: prepares patient charts and exam rooms, assists physicians with exams as needed, have the ability to answer patient questions and guide them through their procedures, and other daily tasks as assigned. The LVN should also be willing to work in both inpatient and outpatient setting.
This is a temporary position with a possibility of full-time hire.
Job Accountabilities:
- Assists with coordinating patient appointments, outpatient testing, and surgery scheduling.
- Arranges and monitors follow-up appointments.
- Provides medical record documentation that reflects all aspects of care provided at each encounter.
- Assists with patient consultation and procedure facilitation, documentation, and patient throughput in the outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Accurately obtains and records patient vital signs. Under direction of registered nurse or physician, performs established techniques for administration of medications and parenteral fluids, and obtaining specimens. Responds promptly in emergency situations.
- Contacts patients to obtain clinical outcomes, schedules additional visits, and reviews medical records for clinical and research follow-up.
- Assists with stocking supplies and cleaning rooms and equipment.
- Other duties as required or assigned by the clinical staff from time to time or whenever necessary
Preferred Job Qualifications:
- Previous experience in the OB/MFM or Labor and Delivery setting.
- Previous research experience is an advantage, but not required.
- Bilingual/Spanish-speaker preferred
