Job Duties:
- Processing in-house-multi-state, union, weekly payroll for up to 500 employees during peak season
- Ensure that salary changes, special payments, tax allocations, and employee deductions are current.
- Review and validate employee time records.
- Communicate with supervisors regarding any incomplete or irregular time entries.
- Accurately enter and proofread all time information for payroll processing, tax reporting, and other purposes.
- Prepare, analyze, and upload payroll journal entries using automated payroll systems.
- Ensure the correct processing of payments for tax withholdings, employer taxes, dues, benefits, garnishments, and more.
- Timely and accurately prepare and distribute payroll checks and direct deposit entries.
- Stay updated on relevant state and federal wage and hour laws, as well as union contract agreements.
- Ensure payroll software reflects the latest legal and contractual requirements.
- Fulfill information requests and prepare/file payroll-related reports, including government, benefit plans, union reports, and multi-state reporting.
- Accurately prepare and file quarterly and year-end payroll tax returns, resolving any issues or questions with tax authorities.
- Prepare and distribute W-2 forms detailing earnings and tax withholdings.
- Address and resolve employee inquiries and issues in a professional, courteous, and timely manner
- Assist in developing and updating policies, procedures, and processes
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of processing in house payroll or general accounting experience
- 1-2 years business school or AA in Accounting
- Highly organized and detailed driven
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Process improvement driven and a tenacious problem solver
