JOB PURPOSE:
Perform functions to leading the quality and continuous improvement transformation process. Manage associated daily functions and direction for best business practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop, implement, and maintain a quality production program to ensure conformity of purchased material and final products to quality standards.

Meets with vendors, customers, quality representatives, and company personnel to discuss and resolve quality problems as required. Oversee quality inspections as required.

Ownership for developing and leading quality action plans; ensuring all users are trained and action taken aligns to business objectives.

Engages with and is influential with facility management and team members, to maintain a focused quality and continuous improvement culture.

Write, update and/or approve SOP/WI and other documentation supporting quality processes.
-
Leads and oversees the CAPA, SCAR, RCCM, MRB review, accountable to process improvement, and sustainment.
-
Manage quality KPI reporting and action plans for driving to achieve results. Escalating critical to business issues as needed.

Support the development of lean manufacturing processes; continuous improvement, standard work, problem solving, value stream mapping, 5S, and other house of lean systems.

Lead, teach and coach employees at all levels on lean manufacturing processes.

Facilitate the development of and maintain the site implementation plan for the lean manufacturing operating system.

Drive lean implementation using lean PDCA toolkit; Projects, Kaizen, Just Do It and Lean Transformation Funnel.

Lead continuous improvement events resulting in employee skill and knowledge development and KPI performance improvements.

Using tracking and reporting systems, prepares plans, drives performance, and assures timely completion and achievement of product/process quality and savings goals.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Monitor and process employee attendance records/timecards and PTO in a timely manner.

Provide leadership to all department activities focused on maximizing teamwork and productivity, minimizing costs, and maintaining a high level of quality standards.

Drive employee safety programs and conduct training and inspections as needed. Reinforce safety policies and procedures to ensure a safety-focused culture.

Implement cross-training program to create a flexible workforce allowing coverage for all key functions.

Aid in the development and implementation of process control improvements within the departments for cost savings and employee efficiencies.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
Experience and/or Training:
-
7 years’ experience implementing Lean Manufacturing tool kits in a manufacturing environment.
-
5 years’ experience in quality management
-
3 years working with cross-functional teams at various levels of the organization.
-
Demonstrated experience using 5S, process mapping, spaghetti diagrams, PDCA methodology, and implementing change.
Licenses/Certificates: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher
Technology/Equipment: Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master’s degree in business, manufacturing management, or another related field
Experience and/or Training: 5-7 years’ experience in furniture/cabinet industry, and/or experience with laminate manufacturing processes.
Licenses/Certificates: Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or higher
Technology/Equipment: Proficient computer skills with Power BI, Python and data analytics software
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
Able to stand for long periods of time, 6-8 hours per day. Walking, speaking, hearing seeing. Listen and observe the environment for hazard prevention. Use hands for tools and typing. Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Able to bend, twist and turn.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor working environment, hot in summer, temperature controlled in winter. Moving machinery, i.e., forklifts, moveable carts, etc. Uneven ground where cart tracks are identified. Air quality may be dusty and potentially require additional PPE in certain areas. Sound level below 85 decibels except in areas specified as requiring hearing protection. Perform work in an office environment and work out in a production environment. Approximate breakdown of time: Office= 40%/Production=60%.
