Klima, Peters & Daly, P.A., a Mid-Atlantic collection law firm that serves local, regional and national clients, has an immediate opening for a civil litigation associate attorney. Candidates must be licensed to practice in Virginia. Qualified candidates should have civil litigation experience or an applicable Virginia court clerkship and the ability to handle cases from beginning to end with minimal supervision.
Attorney Responsibilities:
- Litigate collection dockets in various General District Courts in Central Virginia. The most frequent dockets are in Henrico, Chesterfield, and Richmond City, although the applicant would also be responsible for courts up to an hour and a half from the Richmond area.
- Manage caseloads and scheduling for all courts in your territory.
- Engage with clerks and judges to maintain a relationship with the courts and stay apprised of local preferences and practices.
- Engage with opposing counsel and pro se litigants to develop agreements and resolve cases.
- Draft motions and pleadings.
- Appear as needed in Circuit Courts in your territory.
- Collaborate with firm partners and management on complex cases, litigation trends and emerging issues.
- Participate in bi-monthly calls with the entire Virginia litigation team.
Benefits:
The associate will not be responsible for billing hours or keeping time sheets. KPD Law Group offers a competitive salary, mileage reimbursement, and a unique opportunity to work remotely. The associate will be required to attend court hearings but is only required to come to the home office as necessary to complete duties.
