Summary:
The Director of Beginning Teacher Development and Support provides leadership to design, manage, and evaluate professional learning and support the ongoing development of staff, particularly beginning teachers, to support district goals.
Essential Duties:
- Designs and organizes continual professional learning opportunities for staff, ensuring alignment with strategic plans and initiatives.
- Designs, develops, leads, refines, and evaluates an innovative, efficient, and effective Beginning Teacher Support program to support and retain new teachers.
- Utilizes current and emerging technologies as appropriate to amplify and extend coaching and collaboration.
- Develops and provides resources to assist Learning Communities and schools in developing professional learning communities and conducting action research.
- Oversees a team to deliver a cohesive professional development program for CMS employees.
- Maintains the district online professional management system in relation to online coursework, making modifications as needed and ensuring that all employees are provided with adequate help desk support.
- Leads utilization of learning management system to support professional development courses for staff.
- Leads and/or serves on district level committees, including district-wide conferences/events.
- Leads and/or collaborates on additional projects as directed by supervisor.
- Models data-driven decision making, maintains data related to goals and initiatives, evaluates current and future programs, and prepares/submits reports.
- Develops and monitors work plans and budgets that support the professional learning needs of the District and comply with state and federal program requirements.
- Collaborates and works collectively with other division leaders to deliver professional learning experiences for all CMS staff.
- Collaborates with community partners to identify external development opportunities.
- Expands and enhances professional knowledge through reading of professional journals and research papers, engaging in professional learning communities, and attending seminars, workshops, or conferences.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Minimum
- Master's Degree in Education or related field
- 3 years of experience including some experience leading professional development and coordinating programs.
Desirable
- Advanced Degree in Education
- 2 years of School or District Leadership experience
- 5 years of experience including some experience leading professional development and coordinating programs
Licensing / Certification Requirements:
- Possession of or ability to obtain a valid North Carolina Teaching Certification.
