JOB FUNCTIONS:

DEPARTMENTAL:
§ Assists with the planning, organization, development, coordination and direction of the Food and NutritionDepartment in its Programs and activities in accordance with current Federal, State and Local guidelines and regulations, accepted standards of practice and as may be directed by Administration and/or Director of Food and Nutrition.
§ Directly supervises assigned staff which includes but is not limited to, participating in orientation, manage staff performance in relation to the position’s standards, and monitor time and attendance.
§ Follow Kosher regulations and use proper meat and diary equipment.
§ Exercises good independent judgment and discretion in effectively managing assigned staff by, but not limited to, conducting performance appraisals, corrective disciplinary action and other supervisory interventions which may affect a change in the assigned staff’s status of employment.
§ Makes recommendations to Department Head or designee, as to the hiring, firing, advancement, promotion or any other change in employment status.
§ Carries out major assignments in conducting the Food and Nutrition operations of the business.
§ The Food and Nutrition Supervisor’s responsibilities have a significant impact on the food service operations of the facility.
§ Reallocate dietary staff as necessary, so as to meet changing needs of department and/or facility
§ Responsible for scheduling and making necessary replacements
§ Enforce and monitor employee adherence to job duties and infection control procedures
§ Instruct production personnel and supervise staff dining room food service during meal hours
§ Assist in the development of policies, procedures and programs to improve the overall operation, and ensure compliance with State, Federal, and Regulatory Agencies
§ Assist in development of menus in conjunction with the Managers and prepare daily food production sheets
§ Confer with Managers regarding operational problems; recommend and implement changes as finalized
§ Oversee proper and safe use of all cleaning agents as outlined in the facility's cleaning manual
§ Supervise daily food production; maintain standards of food sanitation and production; conduct preventative maintenance
§ Ensure that correct portioning methods are being followed
§ Maintain and adhere to all sanitation policies and procedures as outlined by Horizon Care Center and the Director
§ Maintain the highest quality food and food presentation program for staff dining room
§ Conduct daily pre-service line meetings for all meals
§ Responsible for opening/closing rounds
§ Assist tray line employees when needed
§ Responsible for inventory and purchasing of all food supplies. Prepares invoices for Accounts Payable
§ Maintain daily supervisor log
§ Responsible for receiving and overseeing storage of all food items
§ Ensure completion of food evaluation and food temperature sheet daily
§ Provide food and supplies, including set up of area, for catering and special food functions
§ Evaluate resident dietary requests in comparison to nutritional protocols
§ Recommend equipment changes and repairs
§ Assist the Director and/or designee in maintaining security of the department's equipment and inventory
§ Oversee and maintain refrigerator temperature log
§ Oversee and maintain dishwasher temperature log and pot washing sanitizing chemicals
§ In absence of Manager(s), is responsible for their duties
§ Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
