Position Summary & Responsibilities
Employee is responsible with other maintenance supervisors for operation, safety, and security of the HCF Maintenance Shops; includes but not limited to electrical, mechanical, construction and plumbing trades. Maintains security of shop areas and both Class A & B Tool Cribs. Ensures all equipment is maintained in good working order, operated properly, and returned to its proper storage after use. Knowledge of the standard practices in the building trades; plumbing; carpentry; electrical; masonry; painting; welding; sheet metal; refrigeration and air conditioning, and mechanical trades. Knowledge of safety measures and occupational hazards of the trades; knowledge of regulations concerning hiring. Ability to read, interpret and work from sketches, blueprints, and specifications. Ability to keep careful and thorough records. Ability to plan, organize, assign and approve or otherwise supervise the work of skilled craft workers. Skill in the use and operation of tools, machines, and equipment commonly used in construction and repair work at the skilled craft level. Skill in evaluating, analyzing, and resolving construction and mechanical problems.
Minimum Qualifications:
Five years of experience in the building trades. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

Selection Process:__
Applicants selected for interview will be evaluated by an interview panel using performance/behavior based interview questions. The interview panel will make recommendations to the Warden for final approval. A second interview may be conducted. Applicants will be subject to background check and criminal history investigation; must pass a drug screen and a TB test unless promoting, transferring, or demoting from another safety sensitive position within the same agency; and possess a valid Driver’s License.
Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate:
Upon offer of employment, the selected candidate must obtain a valid Kansas Certificate of Tax Clearance within 10 days of the job offer. The certificate can be obtained by accessing the Kansas Department of Revenue's website. A Tax Clearance is a comprehensive tax account review to determine and ensure that an individual's account is compliant with all primary Kansas Tax Laws. A Tax Clearance expires every 90 days. If an individual who has been offered employment cannot provide proof of a tax clearance certificate, the individual will be required to enter into a payment plan with KDOR and remain current on such payment plan or make other arrangements with KDOR to achieve the tax clearance required under Executive Order 2004-03.
