THE POSITION
Anchor Home is seeking a DSP/Activities Assistant who is devoted, dependable, compassionate, and patient, and who has the desire to work with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
The Activities Assistant will be primarily responsible for implementing daily community focused activities and experiences based on the preferences and desires of individuals. Activities can include recreation/leisure, volunteering, community college, employment opportunities, along with any other desired experience expressed by an individual.
The Activities Assistant will operate mainly in the community, with less time spent in the corporate office. Community Support Specialist will focus on developing new and existing relationships in the community, in order to promote inclusive community spaces and practices for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
Duties Include:
1. Provide support and supervision with daily community integration and life skills activities.
2. Assist the Delegating Nurse in prioritizing the client’s needs and responding appropriately to those needs.
3. Follow the Plan of Care as written by the Delegating Nurse.
4. Perform all procedures safely.
5. Documents actions and client response to care provided.
6. Actively listens to any concerns expressed by the client.
7. Maintain client’s comfort and well-being.
8. Will be required to drive clients around the community and to several other locations.
Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or College Degree.
2. Certified Medication Technician (CMT) license (Not Required).
3. Must have a Driver's License.
4. Passion for serving and caring for intellectual and developmental disabilities population.
