OVERVIEW: Riverwards Produce is a group of produce focused markets in Philadelphia
The Grocery/Prep Foods Receiver position at Riverwards Produce takes ownership of the intake of products being delivered to the markets and works closely with the management group to establish best practices with receiving product and handling of invoices. They also assist the Grocery/Prep Foods team with price auditing to ensure we have a profitable blended margin within our markets. They have an expert knowledge of Grocery/Prep Foods operations, and they serve to help customers and staff with inquiries/suggestions.
Reports to: Store Manager(s)
Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with department managers to audit product mix for updated pricing against invoices
- Collaborates with teams on inventory management and preparation for physical inventory counts
- Responsible for in-store training and development with regards to receiving
- Responsible for maintenance, cleanliness, and organization of store equipment and facilities
- Responsible for effectively relaying information, and conducting thorough follow up on all action points
- Takes ownership of cross-departmental store operations and communications
- Serves as the primary point of contact for vendors when Store or Department managers are not present
- Creates and maintains procedural documentation and internal tools
- Participates in floor work including stocking, receiving, cashiering, and merchandising as needed
- Maintains expert knowledge of ECRS and POS systems
Requirements
- Experience receiving, processing, and merchandising grocery & produce in a retail setting
- Passion for the principles of sustainable food and farming
- A team player with a willingness to jump in and help with all tasks
- Ability to roll with the punches of a rapidly growing start-up business
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and spend 8+ hours standing and walking up and down stairs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Detail orientation and ability to communicate easily and often with team and managers
- Flexibility in scheduling, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Experience receiving, processing, and/or merchandising specialty grocery in a retail setting
- A positive attitude and an enthusiastic desire to provide storewide customer service
- Working knowledge of local food makers
COMPENSATION: Compensation begins at $18/hr. Riverwards Produce provides a 20% discount on all store products. Benefits include health, dental and medical insurance (for full time employees), paid parental leave, Employee Assistance Program, Paid Time Off, and flexible scheduling.
