Clinical Molecular Geneticist
Full Job Description
The Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory at Principle Diagnostics in Bethlehem, PA is seeking a full-time Clinical Molecular Geneticist.
The successful candidate must have an MD, DO, and/or PhD and be qualified by training/certification to interpret analyses relevant to the diagnosis and management of human molecular genetic diseases.
The applicant must either be Board-certified in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology and Board-certified or Board-eligible in Molecular Genetic Pathology by the American Board of Pathology (ABP) or be trained in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics and certified by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) at the time of hire.
A minimum of three years’ experience reporting clinical genetic results is required. Five or more years’ experience is preferred.
Desirable qualities include strong organizational and communication skills, as well as possessing in-depth experience with next generation sequencing.
This position is full-time, remote. The schedule for this position is Monday – Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, with occasional Saturday work required.
Responsibilities:
· Provide genetic analysis and interpretation by reviewing and releasing patient reports.
· Work with the clinical team to develop and integrate new genetic tests and panels.
· Provide consultations with clinicians to interpret complex genetic results.
· Educate clinical staff on genetic testing and its impact on patient care.
· Assist with research projects aimed at discovering new genetic markers or developing new diagnostic tests.
· Serve as a spokesperson for the lab on genetic issues, helping to communicate findings to the public and the media.
