Job Title: Medical Biller
We are currently seeking an experienced Professional Billing / Collections specialist who is a
billing / coding expert in E/M, U/S, in office procedures, surgical cases performed in both the
inpatient and outpatient setting, as well as experienced insurance collector.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Billing / Collections Specialist is responsible to code /
bill all clinic and hospital charges. Responsible for reviewing claims, follow-up, refilling and
appealing delinquent/outstanding insurance claims. Comply with Code of Ethical & Professional
Behavior.
Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
1. Properly review and code E/M, WW, U/S, office procedures and in-patient surgical cases
2. Confirm insurance policy is active, otherwise obtain and update
3. Review / work escalated accounts
4. Follow-up on outstanding claims for payment – insurance
5. Create and send appeals letters due to specific denials
Qualifications: Minimum Requirements
1. 1 + years of professional OB / GYN coding / billing / collections experience
2. Knowledge of Medical terminology in OB / GYN specialty
3. AHIMA or CPC certification
4. Strong knowledge of healthcare payer systems and benefits: government and
commercial; HMO, PPO payers
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
6. Ability to interpret and understand insurance payer contracts
7. Proficient computer skills to include the use of Microsoft Products, Word and Excel
preferred
8. Experience with Practice Management / EHR Systems
9. Communicates effectively with all levels of staff
10. Maintains composure while working under high pressure
11. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills that foster a positive environment
12. Demonstrates flexibility and ability to adapt to change
13. Excellent organization skills
14. Ability to work in a team environment and take direction from management
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Biller to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately billing patients, insurance companies, and third-party payers. The Medical Biller will ensure timely reimbursement for medical services provided by our healthcare facility.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize <Medical office> software to process and submit medical claims
- Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations
- Assign appropriate <coding> to diagnoses and procedures
- Familiarity with <Medical coding> guidelines, including <ICD-10> and <ICD-9>
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Communicate with insurance companies to resolve claim denials or discrepancies
- Update patient accounts and follow up on outstanding balances
- Collaborate with <Medical records> department to ensure accurate documentation
- Knowledge of <DRG> coding principles for inpatient services
Experience:
- Proven experience working in a healthcare setting as a Medical Biller
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems
- Strong understanding of <Medical terminology> and billing procedures
- Excellent communication skills to interact with patients, providers, and insurers
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
Skills:
- Proficient in <Medical billing> processes and regulations
- Knowledge of medical reimbursement practices and insurance guidelines
- Familiarity with coding systems such as CPT, HCPCS, and UB04
- Ability to navigate various billing software systems efficiently
