Essential Job Functions/Duties:
- Responsible for keeping provider’s day to day schedule on track and on time.
- Works to ensure consistent patient intake according to clinic standards anticipating provider needs and working with Support Team to improve quality and efficiency of patient visit.
- Sets up exam room appropriately according to visit type.
- Assists as needed in making referrals for diagnostics, specialists, and other resources completing all paperwork accurately.
- Assists with procedures and maintains the integrity of the sterile supplies.
- Washes and autoclaves equipment per protocol.
- Assists in organizing and restocking exam rooms and supply room. ·
- Administers injections and immunizations per process/protocol as ordered by medical providers.
- Documents immunizations given in Tennessee according to VFC Guidelines.
- Calls outside agencies for medical records and reports when needed. ·
- Preps for procedures such as Circumcision, I&D, IUD, LEEP, Colposcopies, Nexplanon, EMB.
- Engages in effective communication.
- Utilizes conflict resolution skills as needed.
- Demonstrates use of shared decision-making skills.
- Works collaboratively across disciplines and administrative functions. ·
- Shares and receives information, concerns and feedback in a supportive manner.
Additional Job Functions/Duties:
- Ensures proper electronic medical record (EMR) data entry, completion of forms and required documentation for accuracy.
- Manages patient phone calls or calls from other agencies regarding patient care.
- Assists with laboratory procedures and diagnostics such as EKG, hearing and vision screening, spirometry, and nebulizer treatments. ·
- Completes control testing and logs in accordance with documented instructions.

Education and Experience Required Qualifications: ·
- Completion of a medical assistant training program and/or 2 years work experience as a medical assistant or equivalent medical office experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified as a Medical Assistant
- Completion of a Medical Assistant training program
- Work experience in a clinic
- Bilingual
