The C.A.R.E.S. of Central PA Day Program enables individuals with developmental disabilities to share life experiences and pursue community opportunities with supportive people. Day Program allows individuals to live to their fullest potential by becoming active, participating members of their community.
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) for the Day Program, you will plan and provide job development, pre-vocational training, life skills, social and recreation opportunities to adults with intellectual developmental disabilities. Assist Program Specialist in completing daily tasks.
Responsibilities:
· Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting laws, rules, 2380 day program state regulations and policies governing daily program operations.
· Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, county and state officials, individuals, their families, and the general public.
· Ability to plan, organize, supervise and direct several participants with developing activities to enhance participant growth.
· Knowledge of person centered planning and the ability to help individuals meet their plan of care objectives.
· Knowledge of pertinent community resources and facilities.
· Assist with obtaining volunteer sites.
· Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
Qualified candidates will have:
· High School Diploma or GED
· One years experience with IDD/MR disabilities or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Valid driver’s license
All candidates must be able to secure PA criminal, FBI and child abuse clearances.
