The Dietary Service Director is required to perform the functions of their role in accordance with current state, local, and federal regulations, as well as the established policies and procedures of our skilled nursing facility, to assure that quality nutritional services are provided on a daily basis. The Dietary department must also be maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
Requirements:
- Must have knowledge of dietary practices and procedures, as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing dietary functions in a long-term care facility.
- 1+ year of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting is strongly preferred.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English in an understandable manner.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and/or governmental agencies.
- Must be able to relate to and work with residents on their current level of maturity and functioning.
- Must function independently, be flexible, have personal integrity, and demonstrate emotional stability.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the Dietary department's programs of this facility.
- Assume administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of directing the Dietary Department.
- Maintain confidentiality of all resident-related care information to assure resident rights are protected.
- Participate in state survey inspections made by authorized government agencies; review and develop a plan of correction for any deficiencies noted during survey inspections and provide a written copy of such to the Administrator.
- Assist the Infection Control Coordinator in ensuring that Category I and II Universal Precautions tasks are properly identified.
- Assist in the development of the Dietary department's budget and monitor expenditures to stay within the budget.
- Attend department head meetings, as scheduled.
- Assist in recruitment, interviewing, and selection of dietary personnel.
- Schedule department work hours and work assignments
- Develop diet plans for individual residents; and methods for determining quality and quantity of food served.
