Job Requirements: Requirements: Bachelors Degree Required, Masters Degree preferredAll Grades Music certification preferredMinimum of two years of teaching experience at the elementary or middle school level and/or working with children who have complex learning stylesCandidates must have experience differentiating instruction to meet the needs of all students.Knowledge of multi-sensory teaching techniquesTraining and knowledge of a variety of music programs and methods for teachingEnergetic, creative, organized, passionate about connecting with complex learners, and an advocate for the artsPrimary Duties & Responsibilities: Collaborate with the art teacher to plan for and teach an Integrated Art and Music Program tied to core studies (i.e., social studies, science, math, language arts).Collaborate and communicate with occupational therapists, speech therapists, classroom teachers, and support staff to develop and implement appropriate student plans.Plans/executes a balanced music/performing arts program and organizes class time so that preparation, rehearsal, and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time.Lessons and materials are organized and objectives are clear.Provides individual and small group instruction as needed to adapt music curriculum to meet the needs of each student.Encourages students to develop individual musical skills to the greatest extent possible.Prepare students and organize performances for the annual All School Holiday Event.Teach a music-based elective, three - four sessions throughout the year.Teach afterschool music/performing arts program, once per week, if needed.Evaluates each student's musical growth, performance, and musical understanding.Assesses each individuals contribution to the performance of the group.
