General Summary:
Supervise and oversee the development and coordination of the program. Responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing the clinical needs of the program, training staff, conducting groups, and managing a small caseload. Serve as the primary contact for clients and referral sources regarding clinical matters. Work directly with the Executive Director and VP of Clinical Operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide overall leadership of the clinical departments of both programs, including the development and implementation of short and long-term plans and policies.
- Develop and achieve the clinical department’s annual goals.
- Prepare and present clinical trainings, residential trainings, and conference presentations.
- Promote the Mission Statement and Vision of the facility both internally and externally.
- Prepare departmental reports.
- Ensure compliance with standards from external agencies such as the State of Texas and The Joint Commission.
- Communicate and meet with clients and referrals as needed.
- Manage employee relations within the clinical department.
- Stay informed of legal issues and necessary actions to ensure company longevity.
- Apply customer service skills to both internal and external customers.
- Provide direct support and supervision to clinical staff.
- Ensure the quality of individual, group, and family counseling/therapy.
- Oversee and facilitate weekly treatment team meetings.
- Organize and lead weekly clinical team meetings.
- Complete annual trainings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Patient Placement Criteria.
- Ability to apply ASAM criteria for utilization review, patient authorizations, concurrent reviews, peer-to-peer reviews, and appeals. Knowledge of charting and documentation standards.
- Knowledge of DSM-5 disorders and relevant issues faced by clients and their families.
- Familiarity with clinical terminology and various therapeutic interventions and techniques.
- Understanding of documentation, reporting, and confidentiality laws.
- Knowledge of client programming.
- Strong problem-solving skills, data collection, and fact analysis.
- Ability to supervise counseling interns.
- Minimum of five years of supervisory experience in a substance abuse facility.
- Strong communication and teaching skills.
- Proficiency in basic computer software and hardware.
- Ability to make critical decisions regarding clients based on input from multiple sources.
Education and Experience:
- Texas state licensure authorizing independent practice of psychotherapy (Psychologist, LCSW, LMFT, LPC).
- Master's or Doctorate in a related, qualifying area of study from a regionally accredited university.
- Minimum of three years of experience providing services to a primary SUD population, excluding psychiatric with dual-diagnosis.
