Overview:
We are currently seeking a full-time Medical Biller to join our healthcare team in Brooklyn, NY. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of medical claims, facilitating reimbursement, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. Responsibilities:
- Accurately assign medical codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) for diagnoses, procedures, and services.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies, ensuring timely reimbursement.
- Verify insurance coverage, handle inquiries, and assist with appeals.
- Manage patient billing, including generating statements and providing support.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality of patient information.
- Collaborate with team members and insurance representatives to resolve billing issues.
- Stay updated on healthcare regulations and coding guidelines.
- Assist in financial reporting and analysis related to billing.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients and stakeholders.
- Contribute to a positive work environment and participate in team initiatives.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Medical Biller or similar role in a healthcare setting, preferably in a medical office or clinic environment.
- Proficiency in medical coding systems (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) and billing software (e.g., Epic, Meditech, NextGen).
- Strong understanding of insurance procedures, billing regulations, and reimbursement guidelines, particularly for commercial and government payers (Medicare, Medicaid).
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to review and interpret complex medical records and billing documents accurately.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders and resolve conflicts diplomatically.
- High level of organization and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced office environment.
- Certification in medical billing and coding (e.g., CPC, CCS, CPB) preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or related field is advantageous.
