Growing convenience store chain is seeking a qualified individual to lead a store in Lamesa, TX. Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the store's operation, including fuel, grocery, beverage, prepared food, and other profit areas. The position is salaried and exempt, with work hours dictated by the responsibilities inherent to the job.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Store Administration
- Oversee all aspects of store operation; ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate policies and procedures.
- Follow cash-handling procedures and accurately account for all company and customer funds.
- Prepare daily reports, reconcile cash drawers, and ensure compliance with cash management procedures.
- Prepare and submit deposits on a daily basis.
- Meet corporate targets with respect to labor hours, inventory shrinkage, and loyalty programs.
- Ensure availability of merchandise and prepared products by maintaining accurate inventories; oversee the amount, number, and type of goods sold.
- Oversee stocking of merchandise; receive shipments, unpack merchandise, sort products; process and return merchandise when necessary.
- Maximize capacity of sales fixtures, models, and visual presentations.
- Ensure store security by monitoring security system; implementing and overseeing security protocols; and coordinating with local law enforcement if necessary.
- Routinely check all store equipment, fixtures, and all fuel dispensers and associated equipment to ensure good working order of same; request repairs from equipment vendors as needed.
- Maintain corporate-required levels of cleanliness in all areas of store, with particular attention paid to restrooms and product display areas.
- Meet corporate standards with regard to brand promotion and mystery-shop programs.
- Submit reports to corporate headquarters as requested with regard to buying trends, customer needs, profitable items, etc.
- Develop strategies to increase store traffic, increase customer purchase amounts, and enhance profitability of store merchandise.
- Enforce health, safety, and security rules and procedures.
- Create goals and objectives for the store, and set targets for accomplishment.
- Liaise between corporate and store staff.
- Coordinate with service providers and vendors to ensure smooth operation of all store functions.
- Understand work procedures required of each employee to fill in for absentee staff as needed.
- Additional duties as required.
Personnel
- Direct store operations through effective management, scheduling, and assigning of employee tasks and duties, with prompt follow-up to ensure accountability and completion of required tasks. Assign employees to special duties as required.
- Recruit, hire, and train staff.
- Serve as an example of behavior and high performance to store employees.
- Plan, monitor, and appraise employee job performance; coach, counsel, and discipline employees as necessary.
- Plan and prepare work schedules for employees; report employee illnesses and vacation requests to the corporate office in a timely manner.
- Submit payroll reports and ensure accurate time clock record keeping.
- Conduct personnel performance reviews to assess training needs and build career paths within the corporation.
- Recommend high-performing employees for special remuneration and promotion.
- Develop and execute programs that motivate staff to perform at high levels.
Customer Service
- Demonstrate excellent customer service, and ensure that all employees do likewise.
- Respond to customer or staff complaints, grievances, or suggestions in a pleasant, constructive manner.
- Establish rapport with customers, vendors, and others in a position to understand the buying needs of customers and developing customer trends.
STORE MANAGER JOB REQUIREMENTS
- A minimum of five (5) years management experience in a convenience store or similar retail environment.
- High school degree or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or related field preferred but relevant experience may be substituted.
- Ability to self-motivate, problem solve, and work with minimal supervision.

- Ability to obtain all certifications necessary and required to handle and sell tobacco, fuel, and food service items.
- Must have the ability and willingness to work flexible hours and shifts, including weekends and holidays when necessary. Position is salaried and exempt from overtime regulations.
- Must have reliable transportation and the ability to handle situations 24 hours a day.
- Position requires bending, standing, walking, and repetitive use of hands and arms.
- Must have the ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including but not limited to lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds, pulling items weighing up to 100 pounds, bending, squatting, standing, lifting, climbing, pushing, and reaching.
- Position requires the ability to handle exposure to food ingredients and cleaning chemicals on a routine basis.
- Must be able to handle frequent interruptions while simultaneously managing projects.
- Drug screening and background check may be required.
