This Payroll & Benefits Manager will lead and oversee, supervise, and develop the organization's payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. This individual will be involved in the payroll operations and will contribute to the company's strategic business plans related to short and long-term objectives. This role will play a crucial role in providing recommendations and making decisions that drive the company forward. The position is reporting to the Corporate Controller

Payroll & Benefits Manager Responsibilities:
- Managing/delegating, coordinating, and executing all tasks related to payroll and compliance.
- Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
- Internal audits for timesheets and payroll to ensure accuracy.
- Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
- Implementing payroll systems and processes in a rapidly expanding company
- Research and resolves assigned duties, payroll & payroll tax issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- Partner effectively with HR, Tax, Accounting, and inter-departments to develop effective processes and relationships to ensure appropriate flow of data and reporting
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
- Developing summaries for leadership to track performance, compliance, and related payroll issues.
- Implementation and maintenance of Payroll Systems
- Managing employee benefits and insurance plans
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, benefits, and payroll taxes in multiple states.
- Experience with prevailing wage, preferred
- Sound business acumen, judgment and problem-solving skills and the initiative and drive to get the job done
- Act ethically, self-starter and strong work ethic with a hands-on approach and ability to work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment
- Develop and promote a management style and culture that encourages teamwork, cooperation and participative management techniques
- Excellent professional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a strong focus on excellent customer service required, especially in a remote working environment.
- Ability to work efficiently and maintain a calm and positive demeanor while working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment in a rapidly growing company

- Excellent project management and organizational skills; ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects with the highest attention to detail
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field
- 7+ years of related experience, with at least 3 years of management required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, required
- Experience with job costing
- Experience with Paycor, preferred
- Experience with QuickBooks or NetSuite is a plus
