Summary:
The Contract Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring our company meets all contractual obligations with our partners. This includes meticulous monitoring of operational performance against contractual requirements, identifying and resolving compliance issues, contributing to contract negotiations, and review and interpretation of new or current contracts. The ideal candidate will combine a strong understanding of legal principles with a technical aptitude and operational mindset.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Compliance Management:
- Investigate and resolve any identified compliance issues promptly and effectively.
- Make sure that the company is identifying, mitigating, and disputing fines or penalties associated with noncompliance.
- Make sure that the company is identifying, accumulating, and collecting benefits associated with compliance.
- Communicate with retailers and internal sales staff regarding compliance matters, providing documentation and explanations as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., sales, operations, IT, accounting) to ensure adherence to contractual obligations.
- Performance Monitoring:
- Configure and maintain systems to track order processing times, shipping accuracy, and other key performance indicators outlined in contracts.
- Oversee quality control team members responsible for enforcing contractual obligations in the warehouse.
- Analyze performance data to identify trends, areas of improvement, and potential future compliance issues.
- Generate reports on compliance status for internal and external stakeholders.
- Contract Review and Interpretation:
- Proactively work with the sales team to review new business opportunities.
- Analyze and interpret complex contracts to fully understand our obligations and the partner's expectations.
- Identify potential compliance risks and proactively develop mitigation plans.
- Update internal stakeholders on contract changes and requirements.
- Contract Negotiation:
- Participate in contract negotiations, providing input on compliance-related matters.
- Work in collaborative documents with sales staff by providing suggestions to improve contracts in the company's favor.
- Assist in drafting contract language that clearly defines our obligations and protects our company's interests.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Develop and implement strategies to continuously improve our contract compliance processes.
- Stay informed about industry best practices and regulatory changes that may impact contract compliance.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent legal degree (preferred), Paralegal certification, Project Management certification, BS. in Computer Science, Supply Chain Management, Masters of Business Administration, or Master of Finance.
- Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in contract review, negotiation, or compliance (ideally in a retail or manufacturing environment)
- Experience with ERP systems, WMS, TMS, OMS, or similar technologies.
- Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or Google Workspace
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Technical aptitude and understanding of operational processes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Legal degree with contract review/negotiation experience.
- Understanding of supply chain and logistics operations
- Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI)
- Experience with platform administration for ERP, WMS, TMS, OMS, or similar technologies.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Other Requirements:
- Job will require initial training in office at the home office in Hickory, KY. If hired, will be required to come into the office at other times as needed from time to time as deemed by management.
