The Oklahoma Proton Center (OPC) has an immediate opening for a full-time clinical medical physicist assistant position in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The OPC provides proton therapy with a four-room IBA Proteus PLUS system, external photon therapy with Tomotherapy, Varian and Elekta Linacs at three satellite facilities, and LDR prostate brachytherapy. The candidate will join a team of 5 physicists and 5 dosimetrists. We are seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented applicants who are looking to work in a collaborative team environment.
The Medical Physicist Assistant reports to the Director of Medical Physics and Dosimetry and is responsible for supporting Quality Assurance (QA), radiation measurement, and other medical physics duties under the supervision of Qualified Medical Physicists (QMP). This includes performing patient-specific QA and treatment device QA, assisting with treatment platform commissioning and treatment device fabrication, managing QA equipment, and generating QA reports and records. The Medical Physicist Assistant will have the opportunity to participate in the acceptance testing and commissioning of proton/photon therapy equipment and be involved with training new team members as well as research and development projects.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in physics, engineering, or related applied science, or a graduate of a JCERT-accredited program in radiation therapy.
- Previous work experience in radiation oncology is preferred.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.
- Availability and willingness to work outside of normal business hours.
