POSITION SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse (RN) works under the general supervision of the Director of Clinical Services or Clinical Nurse Manager. The RN is responsible for the nursing practices, policies, and procedures of TCA Health within the RN scope of practice. Supervision of Care Coordinators and Medical Assistants may be required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Practices independently and as needed, collaborates with nurse practitioners or supervises physician assistants, and/or other health care providers.
- Provides clinical nursing services to patients within the RN scope of practice, to meet the goal of providing primary healthcare services to TCA Health patients.
- Takes patient phone calls regarding medical questions, test results, and prescriptions.
- Calls in prescriptions and answers questions under the direction of the provider.
- Identifies patient’s need for education and provides health teaching to one or a group of patients.
- Documents patient assessment, plan of care, and follow up in the electronic medical record.
- Assists providers in healthcare activities; may perform diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures, and administer medications as necessary.
- Works collaboratively with a single or group of providers to ensure that patients receive outstanding care.
- Communicates effectively with patient care team.
- Completes medical forms as directed within the scope of the RN license.
- Consistent follow through to meet deadlines.
- Provides phone and walk-in triage.
- Communicates with patients in a courteous and professional manner.
- Utilizes critical thinking and the nursing process to solve problems as they arise.
- Complete reports as required by the Director of Clinical Services.
- Participates in TCA Healthcare’s performance improvement activities.
- Exhibits a positive attitude and good work ethic; works well with others.
- Provides excellent customer service, both internally and externally.
- Adheres to all organizational policies, procedures, and regulations including HIPAA and Confidentiality.
- Maintains professional appearance and attire.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCTION & QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates of Science in Nursing form an accredited school, required.
- Active RN license in the State of Indiana in good standing.
- Current BLS Certification
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in Family Practice.
- Able to work independently.
- Willing to travel to other sites as necessary.
- Able to adapt to change and maintain a professional demeanor.
- Able to handle a fast-paced diverse workplace in a team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal/oral communication skills.
