About the job: Client is seeking a dependable, organized, and driven individual to join our team as a CNC Lathe Operator/Machinist.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, and other machining parameters, interpreting dimensions and tolerances.
- Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; working with purchasing to place and expedite orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock.
- Programs lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets; calculating requirements.
- Sets-up lathes by installing and adjusting chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, and other necessary equipment.
- Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.
- Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Use standard machine shop measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and optical comparators
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
Knowledge/Skills Required:
- Experience with CNC lathes is preferred
- Ability to prioritize work, handle multiple tasks, and work independently of supervision
- Detail orientation with outstanding follow-through and strong organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must possess mechanical aptitude skills
- Positive, energetic disposition
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Experience with AutoCad is optional, but a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour
