Summary
New Albany Housing Authority is accepting applications for an Intake Clerk. NAHA provides a very employee oriented environment, including a four-day work week, generous benefits and 18 paid holidays each year. As the "face" of NAHA, the Intake Clerk will assist in all aspects of the resident intake process. This includes operating a multiline telephone system to answer incoming calls and directing callers to appropriate personnel by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Retrieves messages from voice mail and forwards to appropriate personnel.
Answers incoming telephone calls, determines purpose of callers, answers questions if possible, and/or forwards calls to appropriate personnel or department.
Takes and delivers messages or transfers calls to voice mail when appropriate personnel are unavailable.
Welcomes on-site visitors, determines nature of business, and announces visitors to appropriate personnel.
Answers questions about organization and provides callers with address, directions, and other information.
Distributes and receives applications for housing.
Explains eligibility requirements, form completion requirements, verification requirements, community resources for financial assistance, housing opportunities, tenant selection methods, property locations, and other information pertinent to the application process.
Sends out initial requests for information regarding applications.
Performs other clerical duties as needed, such as filing, photocopying, and collating.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
Familiar with Microsoft Office products.
