Founded in 1877, the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) is the premier legal association in the state. As a voluntary organization of more than 28,000 members, the Association aims to assist Illinois lawyers in the practice of law and to promote improvements in the administration of justice. The Association engages in many important activities on behalf of the profession—among them proposing and shaping legislation, educating the public, and supporting the courts and the rule of law.
JOB SUMMARY
The ISBA seeks a legal professional to serve as the Director of Continuing Legal Education to supervise the CLE programs of the Association; develop and coordinate CLE programming in conjunction with section councils and committees; implement and coordinate appropriate methods to deliver CLE programming, including live on-site programs and programs presented via electronic media; manage CLE staff; serve as staff liaison to the Committee on Continuing Legal Education and other function related committees. This position also serves as a member of the senior management team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Work with section councils and committees to develop proposals for CLE programming, present proposals for consideration by the Standing Committee on CLE, and facilitate and coordinate the implementation of programs approved by the committee.
- Utilize knowledge of the educational needs of practitioners to construct proposals for programming.
- Supervise the administrative functions of obtaining speakers, organizing course book materials, arranging for locations, scheduling programs, compiling and analyzing historical data, and other administrative matters.
- Keep informed about CLE trends in other jurisdictions to ensure ISBA’s CLE offerings remain of maximum benefit to Illinois practitioners.
- Participate in associations such as ACLEA, NABE, ASAE, etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Perform in office work which is primarily sedentary in nature. Other than the ability to travel frequently, no special physical demands are required.
