Overview:
The Energetics Technology Center (ETC), in partnership with the University of St. Thomas and the Army Research Laboratory, is launching its BEST START (https://www.beststart.io/) program to accelerate the development of renewable energy technologies. ETC is partnering with LEMA to explore technologies to help the Army improve energy resilience and tactical self-sufficiency. This is an ETC position located at LEMA in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Responsibilities:
- Designs, develops, prototypes, and tests all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. Develops specifications for new parts or prototypes. Identifies appropriate materials and processes to ensure the quality, performance, and manufacturability of products. Uses CAD software and other design and modeling tools to develop and improve parts and products. Conducts analysis and tests to determine weaknesses and failures in prototypes or products.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, verify, validate, prototype, and support solar power mechanical systems.
- Mechanical design, drafting and maintenance of mechanical drawings for system designs using SolidWorks
- Component part and assembly design, manufacturing, and prototyping.
- Be guided by expert-level mechanical engineers working on state-of-the-art industrial power and communications technology.
- Work on a wide variety of client projects at various stages of the product development lifecycle.
- Our fast-paced environment demands the ability to manage multiple projects within various disciplines and deadlines. High-energy, self-starters with flexibility to multi-task and perform a wide range of activities will be successful.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant industry experience.
- SolidWorks design and PDM experience.
- Cabinet or rack systems design experience.
- Electrical wiring and interconnect design and layout experience.
- Select off the shelf subsystem mechanical components to meet diverse specifications.
- Building mechanical hardware systems for prototyping applications.
- Some experience with small businesses or startups is a plus.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
