Job Summary
We are seeking a responsible and attentive Lifeguard to join our team. As a Lifeguard, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of our guests while they enjoy our pool facilities. Your primary responsibility will be to monitor swimmers, enforce pool rules, and respond quickly and effectively in case of emergencies. Sign on Bonus
$500 sign-on bonus paid half paid with first paycheck, second half paid with completion of the summer season. Plus $100/person referral bonus.
Examples of Work
- Performs opening duties, including, but not limited to, cleaning the pool, checking chemicals, checking surrounding areas for trash/debris/hazards, helps initiate guard rotation.
- Acts in the capacity of a lifeguard per standards of certification and training.
- Continuously observes pools and surrounding areas for persons in distress and need of assistance.
- Maintains order in pool and deck areas and reports repeat offenders to the Pool Manager.
- Reports to work at least 15 minutes before shift.
- Supports and enforces the rules of the pool and takes prudent action to create a safe environment for guests and swimmers.
- Provides first aid and other emergency care as needed.
- Reports need for repairs or maintenance of any equipment or areas observed to be in such need.
- Administers swimming tests to children whose swimming ability is questionable.
- Monitors pool passes.
- Assists in the admissions booth.
- Monitors the inventory of chemical, cleaning, and janitorial supplies and reports to Pool Manager what is needed and how quickly it is needed.
- Closes the pool temporarily due to inclement weather or other unsafe conditions and is available for recall when the situation permits. Contact the Pool Manager immediately to report conditions or situations.
- Keeps records on chemical readings, pool usage, weather conditions, and injuries.
- Keeps bathrooms and deck areas clean.
- Stocks bathrooms with needed supplies daily.
- Picks up the trash around the pool area daily and disposes of it in the trash dumpsters provided.
- Assists at concession stand when needed.
Requirements of Work
- Wears whistle and proper uniform at all times.
- Ability to deal with the public fairly and courteously.
- Presents copies of certificates: lifeguarding, CPR, and first aid.
Preparation for Work
- Certified under the American Red Cross.
***Lancaster Rec will offer to pay for lifeguarding training with a signed commitment to work the 2023 summer at the Conestoga Pines Pool.
Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal
Pay: $9.50 - $11.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 per week

Experience:
- Lifeguard: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- First Aid Certification (Preferred)
