Tax Specialist (remote)
On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Tax Specialist. Our client is a Bermuda based Financial Planning, Investment Management and U.S. Tax specialist firm with over twenty-five years of advising successful multinational families.

Position Overview
The Tax Specialist has a deep understanding of tax laws and regulations and has the ability to provide expert advice as part of a team to ensure clients optimize their financial strategies. This position plays a pivotal role with our client facing advisory team, providing tax guidance and support to our clients. This is a dynamic and client-focused role that requires a blend of technical knowledge, communication skills and a commitment to holistic financial planning and tax reporting. This position requires strong organizational, communication and customer relationship skills. An ability to work independently, prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner are essential. A typical day might involve a team meeting where key information and deadlines for the team’s client portfolio are reviewed and prioritized, researching a notice of tax liability and recommending a strategy while filing a pending tax return, and preparing a detailed tax projection.
Responsibilities:
· Coordinates and completes tax-related preparation for client meetings;
· Attends and participates in prospect and client meetings with a focus on providing tax related research findings;
· Maintain and assist with maintaining organized records of client data and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance;
· Compiles and analyzes client data to develop and/or assist in the development of strategies for clients to optimize their financial objectives and minimize tax liabilities;
· Prepare written correspondence on a wide range of individual and corporate tax issues relating to US international tax compliance and tax planning matters;
· Performs quality control over tax related financial planning and client meeting deliverables;
· Prepare tax projections and scenarios;
· Prepare US federal corporate and individual income, gift and other tax returns and other tax compliance, including Forms 3520, 5471, 8858 and 8621;
· Prepare state and local tax returns;
· Prepare draft correspondence with IRS or state taxing authorities in relation to tax notices and/or audits for clients as well as related trusts and businesses;
· To ensure that the firm and clients comply with the latest regulations, assist in the development of firm-wide positions and procedures as a result of reading journals, attending seminars, networking with other professionals and sourcing information;
· Assist in educating team and clients about changes in tax laws and tax planning topics; and
· Conduct and document in-depth research on complex tax issues and provide clients with well-informed recommendations.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field (CFP or EA certification is required).
· Possess or currently be in the final stages of a professional accounting designation (e.g. CA, ACCA, CPA) is an advantage;
· A minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar role;
· Proficient in US tax knowledge, financial analysis, tax planning, research and analysis;
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, tax prep software such as Ultra Tax including related tax planning software such as Planner CS;
· Effective communication skills both written and spoken with the ability to explain complicated concepts to clients and team members;
· Strong organizational and time management skills are required as this role often involves working on multiple projects for different clients with varied deliverables and due dates;
· Strong attention to detail and critical thinking; and
· Team player
Our client is open to role being 100% remote, for the right candidate relocation to Bermuda is also available, and thus relocation costs will be covered.
