St. Sava Academy is a dual language Pre-K through Eighth grade dual language school located near O’Hare Airport, Chicago, IL. We offer a family-like atmosphere, small class sizes and teaching within an Orthodox Christian environment. We celebrated our 23rd anniversary of our founding and we currently have 174 students attending.
We have the following teaching opportunity available for the 2024-2025 Academic Year:
- Grade 4 -5 and 6-8 teacher of Math and Science
- Kindergarten and 1st grade teacher of ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies
- Third and first grade teacher of Math and Science
According to our dual language model, one-half of the day will be instructing Math and Science and the other half of the day ELA and Social Studies.
Job Responsibilities
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Committing to the emotional, academic, and social development of students through engaging instruction, including the preparation of lesson plans and units, and using data to update instruction.
- Creating and implementing lesson plans that align with the school curriculum, specifically Singapore Math and My View Savvas
- Teaching a variety of subjects such as Science, Math: Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, ELA and Social Studies
- Conducting standardized testing and assessing student progress.
- Preparing students for the MAP test for grades 2 through 8.
- Integrating public speaking and communication skills development into lessons.
- Employing effective teaching methods in combined classes.
- Maintaining a collaborative relationship with parents and colleagues.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should have the following minimum qualifications:
- A passion for working with children in a nurturing Orthodox Christian environment.
- The ability to be flexible and work collaboratively with colleagues and families.
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or equivalent education.
- State of Illinois Teaching Certificate preferred.
Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment will be required to undergo a background check and must provide documentation proving their eligibility to work in the United States.
