JOB SUMMARY
The Nursing Supervisor is authorized to take any reasonable action necessary to carry out the responsibility delegated to her/him so long as such action does not deviate from established policy and practice as defined by Pennswood Village and the current Pennsylvania Professional Nursing Act in the management of patient care services in the Skilled Nursing Facility and the Personal Care Facility.
- Assume responsibilities in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
- Ensure compliance with all established policies and procedures. (Federal, State, Pennswood Village).
- Participate in the development of patient care policies, programs, and standards of nursing practice.
- Carry out professional responsibilities both independently and in collaboration with other staff.
- Apply the nursing process to patients and their families in the Health Center and residents and their families in their homes to provide for their healthcare needs.
- Maintain accurate and objective written and oral communications.
- Coordinate the efforts of the interdisciplinary team in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the individual patient plan of care.
- Plan and manage patient care assignments, consult on staffing patterns and scheduling.
- Provide demonstration, supervision, and evaluation of all care given by all RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.
- Maintain and ensure the personal rights of all patients through knowledge of and leadership in advocating the Patient's Bill of Rights.
- Participate in maintaining an ongoing in-service education and orientation program for health service staff.
- Establish and maintain a safe and sanitary working environment.
- Consistently seek to extend professional knowledge and improve skills.
- Assure the monitoring of the medical alert and fire alarm systems.
- Perform clinical laboratory procedures.
- Assist in hiring, scheduling, evaluating, and professionally developing staff. Responsible for payroll/personnel functions related to staff or schedule changes.
