JOB SUMMARY
As a Marine Diesel Generator Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of marine diesel generators used in various marine applications. You will work closely with a team of technicians and engineers to ensure the reliable operation and performance of these generators. Your expertise will contribute to ensuring the smooth functioning of electrical power systems on marine vessels.
Minimum 5 years of experience with MARINE Diesel Generators required for consideration.
General Accountabilities
Installation and Commissioning:
- Install marine diesel generators in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and specifications.
- Conduct generator commissioning activities.
Preventive Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on marine diesel generators
- Conduct scheduled inspections and tests to identify and address potential issues before they result in equipment failure.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including parts used, service performed, and test results.
Diagnostic and Repair:
- Troubleshoot generator malfunctions and electrical system issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Identify faulty components and perform repairs or replacements as necessary, including fuel injectors, starter motors, alternators, control boards, and wiring.
- Test generator functionality after repairs to ensure proper operation and adherence to safety standards.
Emergency Response:
- Respond to emergency situations promptly and effectively, diagnosing and resolving generator failures to minimize downtime.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of emergency shutdown procedures and safety protocols.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of generator maintenance, repairs, and service history.
- Generate reports on generator performance, issues, and recommended corrective actions.
- Provide clear and concise communication to clients and management regarding repair status, timelines, and any potential concerns.
Training and Support:
- Collaborate with colleagues and participate in knowledge sharing activities to enhance overall team performance.
Job Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years experience working with marine diesel generators required.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Technical or vocational training in diesel mechanics, electrical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual tasks in various working conditions.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and ability to follow proper procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
- Factory training preferred: Kohler, Northern Lights, Volvo, Onan

Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
