Job Summary
The Quality Manager for Chippewa Valley Bean is our food safety culture champion, inside and outside the organization. An individual who is passionate in the belief that a food safety culture goes beyond the need to meet food safety standard requirements. An individual that understands that quality and food safety is more about the attitude, and state of intent, with-in the daily activities of the organization which is committed to ensuring food safety and quality. The Quality Manager will lead the continuous improvement and transformation of our quality programs including identifying and using new processes, new technology, and new digital solutions to improve the overall quality and food safety of the products and overall productivity of the operation. Responsible for leading the continual digital transformation of our quality programs utilizing quality management software.
Job Functions
- Quality Assurance and Compliance: HACCP team leader, update, implement, and maintain quality assurance programs and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, 3rd party audits and customer audits.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Responsible for daily records review and maintenance, plant audits per audit schedules, audit corrective action follow up and fulfill customer documentation request.
- Quality Control: Establish and enforce quality control measures throughout the production process, including incoming inspections, in-process monitoring, and finished product testing.
- Product Testing and Analysis: Perform and oversee laboratory testing and analysis of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure adherence to specifications and quality standards.
- Supplier Quality Management: Collaborate with suppliers to establish and maintain quality standards for raw materials and ingredients. Conduct supplier audits and evaluations as needed.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and quality improvement initiatives. Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) activities to address quality issues and drive continuous improvement.
- Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality standards, procedures, and best practices. Foster a culture of quality consciousness and accountability throughout the organization.
- Customer Satisfaction: Monitor customer feedback and complaints related to product quality. Investigate and resolve quality issues in a timely and effective manner to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of changes in food safety regulations and industry standards. Ensure that the company's quality management system remains compliant with relevant regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, Chemistry, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a quality management role within the food manufacturing industry.
- Current certification/accreditation/training related to food safety (HACCP Training, PCQI Training) preferred.
- Proven track record of implementing and maintaining effective quality assurance programs.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, USDA, GFSI, BRCGS standards).
- Experience with quality management systems (e.g., HACCP, HARPC, BRCGS).
- Experience with quality management software implementation and use of ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership abilities with the ability to influence and motivate cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and precision.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
