Schedule Notes:
The candidate will be working between 6:30a - 7:30p / Variable 10-12 Hr. Shift / Variable Night Shift and Weekend Rotation, 8-week contract
Bachelor’s degree or Ph.D in Pharmacy required
RPH certification from the state of Texas required
Compounding experience required
2+ years hospital staff pharmacist experience preferred
40 hours of training in compounding sterile products accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education or the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists preferred
Duties:
Follow patient safety systems according to established guidelines
Ensure the appropriateness of all medication doses and that medication prescriptions are processed and dispensed within established guidelines
Follow aseptic technique and infection control in the preparation of sterile products
Maintain adequate stock of medications and supplies per par level or patients’ needs
Ensure the smooth running of the area and act as a role model for pharmacy technicians and other pharmacists
Exhibit leadership in coordinating on-line activities including technician workload, managerial duties, and shift transition
Participate in the education of patients, family, and/or caregivers
Maintain patient confidentiality
Skills:
Medication knowledge base, knowledge of pediatrics, and proper handling of hazardous substances
Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with co-workers, leaders, nurses, and physicians
Must be able to work under pressure and work closely with others continuously throughout the day
Education:
Degree in Pharmacy and a license to practice pharmacy in Texas
