Summary Objective
Under limited supervision, performs a variety of duties in support of certified law enforcement personnel including preliminary non-violent investigations, assisting automobile accidents investigations, crimes against property and other routine non-emergency law enforcement activities. Employee performs various community service functions in order to allow certified law enforcement personnel to handle higher priority incidents and to provide a more efficient and effective response to calls for service; and other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma GED and one (1) year of experience involving public contact. A valid Florida driver's license is required.
Required Certifications upon hire:
NCIC/FCIC certification
Must complete within six months of employment, Police Service Aide Academy as approved by the Police Standards and Training Commission, or a training program prescribed by the Department.
Special Requirements:
Must successfully pass the Test of Adult Basic Ability (T.A.B.E.) from an acceptable Criminal Justice Academy and achieve a score of 10.0 on the reading, language, spelling and math portion of the test.
Never been convicted of a felony; or a misdemeanor involving moral character, perjury, false statement, as outlined in Florida State Statue.
Punctuality and regular attendance are essential functions of this position. The position requires working mandatory shift hours including days, late evenings, holidays, weekends, unscheduled overtime as needed and emergency preparedness situations.
