Registered Dietitian
POSITION OVERVIEW: Registered Dietitian (RD) with a strong focus in Functional Medicine to join a growing telehealth network. The RD will be assigned patients and will be responsible for conducting Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) including initial assessments and all follow up care. This role requires a strong understanding of how all facets of health such as sleep, stress, exercise, and supplementation, in addition to nutrition, impact a patient.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide patient-centered care that aims to assess the patient as a whole and identify the root cause of a patient’s condition or existing health concern.
- Establish a professional therapeutic alliance and effective relationship with all patients. This includes being non-judgmental and using interpersonal skills to connect with patients, providing them with care that is comprehensive, and evidence based.
- Review and interpret patient information obtained from medical records, and/or other health care providers to determine patient needs.
- Assess patient’s stage of readiness of change and determine appropriate treatment modalities and timeline.
- Develop nutrition care plan utilizing appropriate clinical, biochemical, socio-economic, and psychosocial factors.
- Document and communicate nutrition care plans through written and verbal systems (medical records via Healthie EHR, discussion with CCO, quarterly audits etc). Document in record based on established standards of practice.
- Interpret, evaluate, and utilize pertinent current research related to functional medicine and medical nutrition therapy when counseling patients.
- Collaborate with other dietitians re: patient referrals; continuing care plans.
- Participate in patient satisfaction and problem solving with nutrition and customer service issues.
- Refer patients to appropriate health provider if any work is outside the scope of practice as an RD.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with clients/patients through HIPAA-compliant video calls, phone calls and electronic messaging.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in dietetics, food and nutrition, or related area
- Master’s degree in nutrition or functional medicine/integrative medicine
- 5+ years of outpatient MNT nutrition counseling experience
- Preferred experience in functional medicine/integrative medicine nutrition counseling
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with colleagues, patients/clients
- Ability to learn new technology and software and integrate it into practice
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Organizational skills and ability to accomplish work independently
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Active LDN - Licensed Dietitian-Nutrition in your state of residence
- Active LDN in Pennsylvania preferred
- Active RD - Registered Dietitian via Commission on Dietetic Registration
- Maintain CDR Professional Portfolio by completing 75 CEU’s per 5 year period
- Maintain state licensure by meeting the requirements for CEU’s per each licensure period.
