Nice-Pak Products, Inc. (NP) is the global developer, manufacturer, and marketer of pre-moistened wipes for the consumer market, specializing in personal care, hygiene, household cleaning, and disinfection products.
We are currently looking for a lab technician at our Montvale, NJ location.
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Laboratory Technician position is an integral role within the Nice Pak R&D organization, providing technical testing and laboratory support for private label and branded wet wipe projects. The candidate will be responsible for running the testing equipment related to nonwoven products and creating and analyzing data. The right candidate will be a part of a rapidly changing testing environment and will be required to participate in identifying new test methods, product properties, raw material improvements, and new test equipment. The position requires extensive and repetitive testing to help understand the properties of the current, proposed, and competitive materials and to prove concepts and claims for these products.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
- Technical testing of wet wipes to ensure product performance.
- Conduct and contribute to the development of new test methods; record, summarize, and report data accurately to supervisor and project teams
- Evaluate and analyze competitive products and report results
- Prepare samples and conduct employee panel evaluations of wet wipe prototypes and products
- Support Scientists and Engineers with manufacturing line trial and production scale-up activities
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, including balances, pH meters, viscometers, etc.
- Laboratory batching of prototype and final formulations (liquid formula, nonwoven) for clinical and consumer studies, testing, and customer review
- Ensure a clean laboratory and working environment, maintain accurate chemical inventory, and follow all corporate Health and Safety protocols
- Manage time independently, ensure proper documentation in laboratory notebook, and comply with all corporate safety and quality standards

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Minimum High school diploma in Science and Engineering required or 2-year associate degree in a technical / science field, BSc preferred.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
- Computer literate in Outlook, Word, Excel
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Prior experience in a laboratory environment - R&D, QA, or QC is desirable.
- Relevant experience working with personal care and surface cleaning products is desirable
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Ability to learn/create new testing concepts in a rapidly changing environment.
- Must be able to understand and generate statistical data, graphs, and tables.
- Must have good problem-solving skills with root-cause analysis
- Must have the ability to quantify test results and analyze them to create meaningful reports.
- Must be willing to repeat the same test procedures over and over to identify product properties.
- Must be able to read and write technical documents.
- Good communication skills are required to explain the test results and test concepts to enable the team to draw conclusions.
