Position Summary:
The Anatomic Pathology (A/P) Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the Histology and Cytology Laboratory including the Gross Cutting Room. The A/P Manager will actively integrate the entire Anatomic Pathology functions throughout the departmental shifts, inclusive of Cytology, Gross Sectioning Room, Histology, and Pathology Clerical. This position will be a member of the Sayre Lab Leadership Team. This position will be responsible to organize the workflow to result in optimum efficiency utilizing appropriate metrics to maximize the departmental operational efficiencies. The department manager will collaborate with departmental pathologist and other known experts and regulatory authorities on such technical issues as technical procedures, Quality Assurance, and appropriateness of testing. The A/P manager will report directly to the Director of the Clinical Lab. The A/P Manager will be expected to oversee, assist, and guide the Histology, Cytology and Pathology departments at Sayre, as well as provide guidance to the A/P departments, Medical Directors and Administrative Directors at affiliated sites.
Education, License & Cert:
Bachelor of Science Degree in an A/P discipline is preferred. A bachelor’s degree in the physical sciences may be considered if paired with relevant experience in a clinical laboratory. Advanced management degrees or courses are highly preferred.
Experience:
Experienced Cytotechnologist with a minimum of 6 years’ experience in Anatomic Pathology. Advanced degrees in Management preferred. Must be certified by ASCP Board of Registry or Board eligible successfully submitting for certification within 6 mos of accepting position. Experience must include escalating levels of responsibility and a demonstrated ability to manage staff in the achievement of department goals. Management experience is preferred.
