Job Summary:
The tenure track Assistant Professor of English and Director of the Rose Warner Critical Thinking and Writing Center at The College of St. Scholastica will manage operations and develop the Rose Warner Writing and Critical Thinking Center (RWWCT) as part of our academic support programming through the Saints Learning Commons. The Director will build and administer a strong Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) program and teach courses in academic and/or professional writing.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
Build and administer a WAC program to directly support faculty and collaborate with them to develop student writing skills.
Teach one course per semester in the English department.
Direct the RWWCT offerings and operations. Conduct individual writing consultations with students (including undergraduates and graduates in all on-ground and online programs at the college).
Hire, train, and supervise student writing consultants to support the Center’s programming.
Provide individualized writing and general academic support to English language learners.
Develop innovative programming, instructional resources, and presentations to enhance the development of students’ writing skills.
Partner with library staff to develop support for students’ research.
Support, respect, and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view to build a solid and inclusive community.
Required Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition or a closely related field.
Three (3) years of professional experience teaching writing or working in learning/writing centers OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge of writing pedagogy and WAC administration.
Demonstrated success working with students and faculty of diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional experience with ELL/ESL students.
Knowledge/experience with alternative learning deliveries.
Administrative experience, including hiring and training employees.
