We seek a Legal Generalist/Entity and Counterparty Underwriter to join our team and assist with various legal, compliance, and underwriting related activities, including but not limited to assessment of borrower and counterparty formation/standing documents and counterparty know-your-customer evaluations. High quality candidates are organized, demonstrate a high attention to detail, are effective communicators, can efficiently multitask a variety of legal related assignments, and take ownership of a personal pipeline independent of direct supervision. Previous residential real estate experience is a plus, but not a requirement. Candidates with a paralegal background or skill set can expect to make immediate, high quality contributions to our team.
Individuals joining TVC will build skills related to mortgage regulatory compliance, entity formation, and mortgage underwriting. Regulatory compliance responsibilities include assisting with periodic license, securitization, and warehouse line report filings and contributing to similar borrower and counterparty applications and due diligence processes. The Entity Underwriter responsibilities include completing reviews of LLC/Corp borrower entities and broker and trading counterparties to assess that the entities TVC faces are valid, duly formed in good standing, and satisfy TVC’s credit criteria. This role reports directly TVC’s Chief Risk Officer and Chief Operating Officer and will also collaborate on a day-to-day basis with TVC’s Underwriting and Counterparty Risk departments, office of General Counsel, as well as other departments for ad hoc projects such as vendor agreements, employment agreements, and other legal matters.

Responsibilities / Essential Job Duties
· Assist with legal fillings and reporting obligations for licensing, securitization, and warehouse line covenants
· Assist with assembly of TVC responses to due diligence questionnaire and request for proposal activities
· Develop acumen to communicate licensing and regulatory restrictions and requirements
· Take ownership of personal pipeline of entity underwriting reviews to assess legal standing of:
- TVC trading counterparties
· Coordinate diligence reviews and complete assessments of third party originator counterparties
· Assist with various ad hoc legal matters, including vendor and employment agreements
· Communicate with TVC Underwriters, Counterparty Risk, Sales and Processing personnel to clear approval or cite deficiencies with TVC applicants and counterparties
· Proactively update TVC managers of outstanding issues and statuses
· Assist with statutory compliance/licensing filings and reporting
Competencies/Skills
· Experience working as a paralegal or other similar legal occupation
· General knowledge of mortgage regulations preferred
· Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage personal pipeline
· Ability to exercise sound, independent judgement
· Reliable, and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
· Comfortable working at a fast pace under time sensitive deadlines
· Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office
· Demonstrated ability to establish competency with new technologies and applications
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree required
· Previous residential real estate experience is a plus, but not a requirement
