Statement of Purpose: This position assists the Director of Spiritual Life in providing a wide variety of worship and religious services, spiritual care and counseling, fellowship activities, and educational opportunities that support residents, their loved ones, and staff in their spiritual growth and enrichment. This position coordinates religious services and functions with other religious leaders from the greater community.

Some of the main responsibilities:
- Ensure the delivery of a complete program of Spiritual Life to residents, their loved ones and staff of all faith traditions.

Actively participate in the delivery of spiritual care.

Ensure that all requests for spiritual care are responded to in a timely manner.

Ensure that appropriate worship and religious opportunities are provided.
-
Ensure that ritual and sacramental needs are met.

Visit residents in the hospital or in short-term rehabilitation communities.

Plan and lead weekly religious services in Health and Rehabilitation building.

Plan and lead Sunday worship or Shabbat services, including preaching, once a month, or as needed.

Plan, lead, or facilitate Celebrations of Life Services.

Provide orientation and training according to corporate guidelines.

Coordinate clergy, laity, and volunteers from the religious community to Sun Health locations.

Act as liaison with department staff and leaders as appropriate.

Support an interdisciplinary approach to Spiritual Life.

Provide liaison for families to other departments such as social work, volunteers, etc.

Provide orientation for staff to identify possible Spiritual Life needs for residents and families.

Oversee the use and maintenance of the Spiritual Life offices and chapel, if provided.

Distribute ritual items and religious literature as needed or requested.

Document and maintain records of spiritual life activity to communicate with other members of the department and report to the appropriate department directors.

Implement the department's plan for continuous quality improvement.

Contribute to the wider community through publication, teaching, and research

Author or co-author materials relevant to spiritual care/ education.

Participate in teaching/lecturing on a regular or periodic basis as invited.

Provide learning opportunities for staff, leadership and residents.

Participate in programs and administrative activities of the Sun Health locations.

Participate in regular professional development activities.
-
Participate in periodic planning meetings for department directors.

Demonstrate orientation toward excellent customer service in all interactions by conducting oneself in a cooperative, courteous, positive, and professional manner. Display sensitivity and awareness of others. Follow through with established expectations and keep customers informed of progress.
Qualifications:

Master of Divinity, or equivalent from an accredited theological institution.

Clinical Pastoral Education Training (four units strongly preferred).

Ordination or commissioning for ministry by a recognized religious group.

Current endorsement for Chaplaincy by a recognized religious group.

Certification through the Association of Professional Chaplains, or the National Association of Jewish Chaplains preferred
-
Experience and understanding of worship/religious service preparation and leading.

Experience with computer using Microsoft Office software.

Spiritual Care experience with older adults preferred.

Possess current or ability to obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card is required.

Ability to travel in own vehicle, current Driver's license and auto insurance is required.
