Duties:
- Perform histology procedures including embedding, cutting, describing and grossing biopsy tissue specimens for processing and slide preparation at a GI laboratory
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments
- Prepare reagents and solutions for histological procedures
- Perform quality control checks to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results; meticulous attention to detail is required. Performing special stains, including immunohistochemistry on a Leia Bond III
- Maintain accurate records of all tests performed and results obtained
- Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area. Interacting with lab and clinical staff to ensure excellent and timely service - professionalism is a must
Skills:
- Proficient in medical terminology related to histology and laboratory procedures; HT ASCP certification or eligible
- Experience working in a research laboratory or clinical setting preferred
- Knowledge of specimen collection and processing techniques
- Ability to provide patient care during specimen collection procedures
